Our Final Market Day of the Season

It has been another  banner year at the Winter Farmers' Market! We've been excited to see larger and larger attendance each week as people discover the wonderful array of fresh and local goods offered, as well as the convenience and beauty of our location. Our vendors represent the small farms and food artisans of New Hampshire who are proud to provide sustainably-raised, high-quality, and healthful products. As we end the winter market season, we thank you for your support, and invite you to continue buying local at the summer market on Capitol Street in Concord.

April 4th

If you've been coming to the market all winter, you know that this is one of the best places to get fresh, local produce, meats and seafood, and dairy products. Did you also know that there are wonderful treats for our four-legged friends, artisanal coffees and nuts, sauces, honey, and even goat-milk soaps and lotions? There truly is something for everyone at the Concord Winter Farmers' Market - your full shopping bag is a great way to support our local farmers and artisans!

March Goes Out Like a Lamb

The Old Farmer's Almanac is prognosticating a rainy but mild week coming up. We'll take the liquid sunshine, and wish our farmers well as we know they are preparing for a new season of growing delicious, high-quality food. Come visit us at our greenhouse and take in the sights, smells, and excitement of the market; you'll forget about the rain while you're here, and will be inspired to experience the healthy and locally-produced foods offered by nearly 30 vendors.

March Madness!

The days are getting longer and warmer - and we are finally emerging from winter's grasp this week. Happy Spring! Celebrate the change of seasons by cleaning out your refrigerator and pantry of all the tired and expired food and condiments, and bring two shopping bags to the market this week! Stock up on fresh vegetables; a wide range of dairy products; wonderful jams, sauces and chutneys; homemade pastas and soups; and delicious breads and baked treats.

Pre St. Patrick's Day Market

In the US, we are accustomed to a good corned beef brisket, cabbage, and root vegetables to celebrate St Patrick's Day. But did you know that in Ireland, the traditional meal is actually boiled bacon with cabbage? Irish immigrants in New York City discovered that corned beef was a less expensive alternative and adopted it for their patron saint's holiday. Our vendors can fill your shopping bag with all the supplies for either beef or pork option, as well as all the vegetables and desserts you need to serve up the traditional meal.

We've Got It All

According to Wikipedia, "A farmers' market (also farmers market) is a physical retail market featuring foods sold directly by farmers to consumers. Farmers' markets typically consist of booths, tables or stands, outdoors or indoors, where farmers sell fruits, vegetables, meats, and sometimes prepared foods and beverages.

Curl Up With a Book And...

Whether you're trying to catch up on that great novel you received for Christmas, or have a stack of cookbooks waiting for your attention, we are big advocates of curling up with a steaming cup of your favorite beverage and a tray of wholesome goodies. The Winter Farmers' Market features several vendors who can fill your warm, toasty beverage needs, and a wide range of delicious snacks. And they have all been carefully prepared locally by dedicated growers and artisans.

A New Holiday?

We're always on the lookout for food-related events to tie into the Winter Farmers' Market, and we have a new one for you. St David's Day is this week (the patron saint of the Welsh). Even if you don't hale from Wales, you might want to try Welsh Rarebit - "posh cheese on toast." Or perhaps revisit the humble shepherd's pie. This dish is very traditional, but can be re-imagined in so many ways; and you can't beat its comfort food value on these chilly winter days.

Make Valentine's Day Special

Next week is Valentine's Day, so consider yourself reminded! Shop the market for all the great ingredients to make a memorable meal with your special someone. Nothing can be more fun than cooking with family, so take advantage of the holiday and plan a menu together featuring top-quality, locally-raised foods that you can share in preparing. Finish out the evening with scrumptious desserts and snacks from our local bakers and artisans. The market has everything you need to make not only a delicious meal, but a memorable one as well!
